Ministry of Love
published: Thursday | July 3, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

Can ministry restore LOVE? I'm what most of my Jamaican and American friends and family call a JaMerican and my answer to this question is Yes, Yes and Amen.

Sixteen years ago my wife and I visited Jamaica as tourists and as most tourists do I stayed put for the most part behind the fences of the resort. I was blessed, however, on that visit to fall in love with Jamaica and its people.

Ran from God

Twelve years later, God asked me to share a ministry called Tres Dias (three days) with His people of Jamaica. Honestly, I wish I could say I was obedient, but I ran from God for a solid year, the next year back on the beach in Negril, God spoke to me again and asked if I was ready to do what he had asked of me the previous year. Well, the rest is history and what a beautiful history it has been.

Jamaica Tres Dias has been a blessing to many and as the ministry grows across the island many more will receive what God has in store, just for them. Tres Dias is a simple three-day programme that has allowed many persons to accept their brothers and sisters in love and to become the leader that God has called them to be. They are becoming leaders in their homes, churches, communities and their beautiful nation.

Jamaica is really no different than my homeland (America) in many respects. We all need to learn to love one another as Christ loves. My prayer for Jamaica is that we will join together and unite as one people in love, regardless of our economic status, political or denominational preference.

I am, etc,
