Smith leaps into Games squad
published: Thursday | July 3, 2008

TRECIA SMITH, the 2005 World Championships triple jump cham-pion, has been added to Jamaica's team for the Olympic Games in Beijing, China.

Smith, who leapt 15.11 metres to win Jamaica's first gold in the field at a major championship, joins the 51 other members announced on Tuesday by the Jamaica Amateur Athletics Association.

The national outdoor and indoor record holder at 15.16m and 14.84m, respectively, was selected based on her performance at last year's National Championships, where she leapt 14.35m for the Olympic 'A' standard.
