Wanted: Serious Opposition
published: Thursday | July 17, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

Since the JLP became the ruling party, I have noticed a constant combative beating down of issues and policies engineered to run the country. For so many years, we have witnessed so many ills inflicted on this country while the now Opposition stood by and just watched. I just can't understand their real political objectives.

Comedy show

The electorate of this country decided last October to install a conscientious team to manage our affairs. Now almost every night we are witnessing a new comedy show on the news featuring chicken back, cassava, nightmares and 'guided missile'. When did all these leaders change their names to Richard Pryor?

What we want in Jamaica is a constructive Opposition not a destructive one acting out important issues related to our well-being on a stage. Oliver Samuels and colleagues are very good providing all of that for our entertainment. Get serious, please!

I am, etc.,

FRANK HILL

Red Hills, St Andrew
