Whether you wear boxers, boxer briefs (broxers) or even the tightie-whities (briefs), there must be a reason for your preference. You perhaps might have also fallen for some of the myths associated with certain types of underwear. Let's clear the air.
Myth #1
If you wear boxers, it is likely that your scrotum will sag and become out of shape.
Suffice to say, guys, there is no truth to this! General practitioner, Dr Eileen Lopez Gordon, says there is no real evidence or proof to say that this can occur.
Myth #2
Briefs keep your scrotum firm in the same way that brassieres keep woman's breasts from sagging.
Again, where is the proof? At present, there is no evidence to suggest this.
Myth #3
Briefs tend to make you itch, sometimes resulting in chafing and rashes.
While this may be true, Dr Gordon Lopez says like with any tight-fitting clothing, this can happen. Irritation, she says, can even increase if there is a bad reaction to the type of material.
Myth #4
Briefs make you hot in the 'region', causing infertility in males.
Off the bat, this is not true and should never be repeated. As a matter of fact, many proud 'brief wearers' can attest to this.
Myth #5
Only gay men wear briefs because they are so close fitting and fit like women's panties.
Not true; men from all different sexual orientations wear briefs.
