NOTE-WORTHY

Great article

Kudos to Claude Clarke for his two-part article entitled 'How Did We Get Here', which appeared in The Sunday Gleaner of July 20 and 27.

He was right on the money. We got here because of the senseless economic policies of the 1990s. What is interesting is that Clarke is a former minister of trade under the People's National Party, yet he chose to speak so frankly. I appreciate the fact that he could put party loyalty aside and look at the issue objectively.

It is interesting to hear some persons, who through their party loyalty, would still say that Omar Davies was the best and most qualified finance minister this country has ever had. In my opinion, his tenure as finance minister is among the worst things that have happened to this country.

OnStage obscenity

Almost every stage show, there is always someone charged for using indecent language onstage.

To these artistes, I guess it is not a big deal because they know they will go to court, pay a small fine and be on the next stage show, breaking the law again.

I believe the courts should hit them where it hurts the most - their pockets - and hit it hard. A real artiste does not need to use indecent language to get his or her message across.

My name is Althea Reid. His father's name is Albert Reid; his sister's name is Nesetta Elliot and his brother, James Reid.

Anyone knowing his whereabouts please contact me at 403-617-6011. I have not seen him for 34 years.

... My roots

I was told that my grandma was a resident of Hannah Town. Located on Blunt Street. Her name was Catherine Gillet Bent. She raised a girl named Marcia. I do not know whether this person's last name was Bent or Gillet. I need to find my roots. Thanks in advance. Hoping for any information.
