Students in CXC scam to be sentenced
published: Friday | August 1, 2008

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (CMC):

Trinidad Magistrate Adrian Darmanie will decide on Monday the fate of two persons who pleaded guilty to having prior knowledge of the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination Communication Studies exams.

Scott Joseph and Nyron Toney, both 18, had pleaded guilty at a previous court hearing on July 23.

The magistrate had already signalled his intention to send a clear message that cheating in school examinations would not be tolerated and deferred his sentencing to Monday, after hearing a mitigation plea from defence attorney-at-law Yaseen Ali during the court hearing on Wednesday.
