Former foreign affairs minister K.D. Knight has been bestowed with the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of Chile.
This is a decoration created more than 190 years ago by Bernardo O'Higgins - the liberator (1987).
It is given to foreigners who have rendered civil services to the Chilean nation. Mr Knight received the honour for "actively encouraging and strengthening bilateral relations," between Jamaica and Chile during his tenure as minister of foreign affairs in the previous government.
