Young Boyz hunt second win
published: Saturday | August 2, 2008

Jamaica's young Reggae Boyz will go for a second straight win in the Caribbean Football Union (CFU) Youth Cup, when they tackle the Netherland Antilles at 11:00 a.m. today, at the Fatima College Ground in Port of Spain.

The Jamaicans opened their account at the tournament in convincing fashion, following a 5-1 win over Antigua and Barbuda, with Prince Samuel and Kavarst Bloomfeld both netting braces in the encounter. Carl Reid was the other player to get his name on the scoresheet for Jamaica.

Looking to rebound

The Netherland Antilles will be looking to rebound after going down 1-2 to the Dominican Republic, who joined Jamaica at the top of the group after their first game.

In order to advance to the quarter-final round, which will be played on August 6, Jamaica, the defending champions and group favourites, must top the zone or finish as one of the best second placed teams.

The competition's semi-finals and finals will then take place at the Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya on August 8 and 10, respectively.

The winner and runner-up from the CFU Youth Cup will then advance to the CONCACAF U-17 Championship, which will take place in Mexico in April next year. The confederation Final will then qualify four teams to the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Nigeria.
