The Gleaner continues to follow the Hird quadruplets through their family diary and observe the developments the girls are making.
There has been a change in the girls' normal routine. They are not given juice early in the mornings again; instead, they have it in the afternoons between 2 and 3 p.m to combat the summer heat.
All the girls are bathed twice per day in an effort to keep them cool and happy during the days. The time for a bath varies from 7 to 8 in the mornings and 6 to 6:30 in the evenings.
At six months, the babies are better interacting with each other and its bye-bye to Gabrielle's skin infection, which had caused her to be separated from her sisters.
Gabrielle has taken on a notorious reputation as she cannot help but kick the sister who is nearest to her. Annabelle is the opposite of Gabrielle and most likely to smile with her sisters or whenever someone is playing with her.
However, with all the progress, there is one thing mommy and daddy might not be pleased with. The girls now wake up in the wee hours of the mornings and often stay up a while before closing their eyes to sleep again.
Eager to learn
Take for example Gabrielle, who woke up one night last week and decided to get all excited with her baby talk and screaming. She had to be taken from her room by mommy who fed and comforted her so that she could go back to sleep.
The girls are eager to learn and this is evident in the craving they have developed for attention. Annabelle is the leader in this department. If she does not see anyone around she will scream and make noise but as soon as someone appears she stops.
It seems as if she already knows how to get things done in her own way.
Not only do the baby Hirds love attention, they are now more receptive of changes. They are now having their porridge more comfortably from a spoon, with very little fuss.
They are also holding their bottles to feed themselves. Ruthann-Belle and Gabrielle seem to like doing this more than Isabelle and Annabelle.
Mommy and daddy might soon get a break from carrying the babies around the home as they could start creeping shortly.
