Domino's Pizza, the choice for Olympics snack time
published: Thursday | August 7, 2008

Latoya Grindley, Gleaner Writer

The 2008 Olympics are upon us and many are eagerly counting down the remaining days and hours before the real action. Like the athletes down to participate, fans are eager, anxious and excited as they gear up for some of the expected clashes and showdowns. In the same way that movies are synonymous with popcorn, many will be snacking to their delight while glued to their television sets or even the radio, jumping and screaming in between bites.

Satisfying

While fans follow the activities in Beijing, fast food outlets are expected to make a killing satisfying the appetites of the enthusiasts who will decide to stay away from the kitchen to preserve the energy needed during the sports championship.

Domino's is one such franchise that is intent on leaving its customers satisfied. Marketing manager of Domino's, Kevin Seaga says he suspects that there will be an increase in demand and will be making preparations to meet it.

Big events

"We will be increasing our staff count as well as dough preparation and toppings. We know on the days of the events it is going to be spent with family and friends and especially when it is time for the big events like the 100 metres we expect a lot of orders."

While Domino's only offers takeout and delivery services, except for one location where dining is offered, Seaga says there is a spin-off for people who would like to dine while watching the races at a sister franchise. This would be ideal since most of the events will take place in the mornings as China is about 13 hours ahead of Jamaica.

"At Wendy's we launched a breakfast promotion and this is in time for the Olympics, so customers could make use of this as most of the locations have televisions."

Options

Whether it be dining or takeout/delivery, customers will have many fast food options to satisfy their palates while feasting their eyes and ears on the Olympics.
