GEORGETOWN, Guyana (CMC):
A poll conducted by the North American Caribbean Teachers Association has found widespread disenchantment with the ruling People's Progressive Party government and little confidence among the population in the ability of the disciplined forces to rein in crime.
Asked if they were satisfied with the way the country was being governed, only 28 per cent said 'yes', while 52 per cent said 'no' and seven per cent responded 'not sure'.
According to the findings of the survey, rising crime, the escalating cost of living and perceived corruption were the major reasons for growing dissatisfaction with the government.
