'Prevention better than cure'
published: Saturday | August 9, 2008

THE EDITOR, Sir:

So we need a politician to tell us that you can gamble all you want; but for "God's sake" don't use the children's food money to gamble? What rubbish! Then why bother open another "gambling den!" close it for God's sake.

The Bible says, "Prevention is better than cure" (Obedience better than sacrifice) that still stands today. When the patrons have lost their monies to gambling, they come home angry and beat their wives and children to release their frustrations. Then these politicians expect the churches to pick up the pieces of these families' broken lives and miraculously reform them. And if this is not done, the Church is accused of not "doing enough" to help the wounded in the society.

Close those gambling dens! If yu rub butta a puss mou't, 'im mus' like it.

I am, etc.,

Mrs ANNETTE MARKLAND
