'Irregular' drug find
published: Saturday | August 9, 2008

ATHENS, Greece (AP):

A Greek track and field athlete at the Olympic Games has returned "an irregular" result in a drugs test, and more tests are being carried on a second sample, the country's Olympic committee said yesterday.

Greek state television NET said a first sample from the unnamed male athlete had tested positive for methyltrienolone, a banned steroid.

The Olympic committee described it as "irregular result" and said it and the anti-doping council was taking "all necessary action to clarify the incident and a further statement will follow after the second sample is analysed."

It gave no more details. Officials at the anti-doping council were not available for comment.
