Constant Spring Police Station gets facelift
published: Monday | August 11, 2008

SENIOR OFFICERS at the Constant Spring police station can work in more comfort with the addition of office space at the precinct's Cassava Piece, St Andrew, headquarters.

The new-look section was officially opened on Thursday by Minister of National Security, Senator Trevor MacMillan.

The project, which cost just over $6 million, was completed in six months, with 25 per cent of the funds coming from the national security ministry.

Collaborative effort

"The collaborative effort that made this building possible in such a short time is a clear indication that the citizens of this country and our law enforcement agencies can work together to achieve even tasks that seem impossible," MacMillan said.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Carl Williams, who heads the Area 5 police, including Constant Spring, spearheaded the initiative.

More offices

There are now offices for the four superintendents assigned to Area 5. Civil engineer and contractor, Kenneth Cole, led the construction free of cost.

"When I visited Area 5 and saw the congested condition that the police station was in, I knew I had to do something about it," said Cole, who is a member of the Area 5 police committee.
