An all local based Reggae Boyz squad will continue their preparation ahead of the August 20 World Cup qualifier against Canada, when they face former Premier League champions Waterhouse, in a practice game scheduled for 4 p.m. at Brancourt, Clarendon, today.
Several of the younger players and perhaps even a couple of the veterans will be hoping to make themselves a part of Rene Simoes' plans for what is expected to be a gruelling qualification campaign.
Leading that list will be Harbour View midfielders Jermaine Hue and Keith Kelly. Hue, arguably one of the nation's most talented men in the middle of the park, has not figured in the Brazilian's plans since being called to training but not selected for a game in February, while Kelly has recovered from long-term injuries and now hopes to command a consistent spot in the national set-up. Both players did enough to impress Simoes in recent a match for the national team against Harbour View.
U-20 players
Seven Under-20 players - central defender André Darby (Naggo Head), Keithy Simpson (Cavaliers), right-back Levaughn Williams (Sporting Central), André Campbell (Portmore United), André Clennon (Waterhouse), Davian Thorpe and Reno teammate Evan Taylor - will be looking to mix it up with the big boys.
Also included in the squad are goalkeepers Donovan Ricketts (unattached), Shawn Sawyers (Portmore United), Dwayne Miller (Harbour View), O'Brian Woodbine (Reno), Eric Vernon (Portmore) and Jermaine Taylor (Harbour View).
Ofensive midfielders
Seba's Keniel Moodie and Hugh Howell of Waterhouse earned call ups as central midfielders, while Ricardo Cousins (Portmore) and Jevaughn Watson (Sporting Central) are listed alongside Hue and Kelly as offensive midfielders.
Forwards Kavin Bryan (Harbour View), Keammar Daley (Meadhaven) and James Thomas of Portmore have also been included in the squad.
Jamaica have been drawn in the CONCACAF Group of Death where they, in addition to Canada, will face Honduras and Mexico, with only two teams advancing to the final round.
