The National Commercial Bank (NCB) is sponsoring the Jamaica Olympic team in the amount of $3 million.

"NCB will support avenues that allow Jamaicans to excel and to showcase positive values," said Sheree Martin, senior assistant general manager in the group marketing and communications division at NCB, during the recent handover of the bank's sponsorship cheque to the Jamaica Olympic Association.

This sponsorship is in addition to the long-term association with the MVP Track and Field Club.

Represents 10 athletes

The MVP Track and Field Club represents 10 athletes who were selected to compete at the Olympics, including Asafa Powell, Brigitte Foster-Hylton, Sherone Simpson and Michael Frater.

NCB committed $6 million, over four years to the development of the athletes' training programme.

Speaking at a recent send-off for the athletes, NCB's Group Managing Director Patrick Hylton said: "This is arguably the strongest contingent that Jamaica has ever sent to the Olympic Games."

Credit-card promotion

In addition to the sponsorship of the Jamaica Olympic team, NCB is also having a credit-card promotion, which features visuals of Asafa Powell.

The promotion, dubbed Golden Opportunity, offers NCB customers a chance to win a number of prizes, including a seven-day Caribbean cruise, a trip for two to a North American destination on Air Jamaica and a weekend for four at Starfish Resorts.

No additional entry is needed, every purchase of $5,000 or US$75 made using an NCB credit card entitles you to one entry.

New credit-card customers benefit from a bonus entry upon their first purchase.

Details about the competition can be obtained by speaking with an NCB customer care representative at 1-888-NCB-FIRST (622-3477), visiting www.jncb.com or an NCB representative at the nearest branch.
