The Editor, Sir:I (a regular high school student) was reading the headline story of the paper published August 10. It was about a girl who was to be aborted. The mother was very young, 14 years old, so it is understandable in our culture that she would have to drop out of school.
Reading that Dominique, the daughter of the young mother, was motivated by her 'accidental birth' was surprising for me. If my mother had decided that I was not to be born and that she accidentally had me, I would be depressed, just by the thought that my own mother did not want me on the Earth. And for her to be thinking of aborting me would hurt extremely badly and would help no one.
Many women today have regrets and feel guilty for killing their babies - other human beings. I've been on the Earth for a short time (only 13 years) and I am learning that a setback is a set-up for a comeback. So, I commend Dominique for being motivated by that experience and I hope she achieves her goal to become a doctor and save babies who may come under a similar threat.
I am, etc.,
Glad to be Alive
