No to CARICOM
I just finished reading the article by Claude Clarke and I agree with him. Treat our association with CARICOM the same way the pregnancy of a woman who was raped would have been treated - instant termination.
Our economy was, has been and is still being raped by Trinidad and Tobago and the others. Follow the Bahamas! To hell with CARICOM, they need wi, we nuh need dem!

Growing corn
Why don't Jamaican farmers grow corn in greater quantity? With the numbers of products that come out of corn, it would worth it .
It is unbelievable that Jamaica still has areas without electricity, given the number of things that are driven by electricity.
I can't see the progress in not having it. Thank God I am from St Andrew. I guess they will never find the area MP until the next election.

Thanks, teachers
I just want to say to Esther Tyson keep up the good work, and a big thanks to dedicated teachers like you, and to Karl Aiken. Iit should come as no surprise that money will 'spring up' out of nowhere for election campaigns, but hard to find for education. Isn't it so that a nation of 'dunces' is easier to lead.

Gutsy ride!
Heartiest congratulations and 'big up' to Samantha Albert and Before I Do It for their gutsy performance in Hong Kong. Words cannot express the tremendous pride I felt seeing the Jamaican flag displayed in the equestrian arena for the first time at an Olympic games.
You exemplify the indomitable spirit of Jamaicans to overcome obstacles and change can'ts into cans. God bless.

Disgusted with Mayor's attitude
I am completely disgusted with Mayor Desmond McKenzie's inconsiderate attitude towards the shop owners. I'm sure the structure has been there for many years and has not caused any safety issues. I'm sure the shop owners had no idea the units they leased were not built with the proper permits.
This was clearly an error in the system and the shop owners should not have to be shoved out of the units. Five days' notice is not ample enough time for a business owner to uproot and relocate his/her business.
I'm sure if these shop owners had better legal representation 'Mr. Mayor' would reconsider his power trip and give them at least a 30-day extension to vacate the premises.
This is an ignorant and thoughtless way to treat members of the community who are trying to make their contribution to commerce.
