NHT loan query
published: Wednesday | August 13, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

I recently purchased a piece of land and I am now building a house on that land with my fiancé. Both of us have acquired loans equally from the National Housing Trust (NHT) to build the house.

As it stands, we are joint tenants. What I am curious to know is what will happen if one of us dies, does the loan also die with the deceased.?

Or, is it that the surviving partner will have to pay back both loans to the NHT?

I am sure that a lot of persons would like to know the answer to these very pertinent questions.

I am, etc.,
