THE EDITOR, Sir:
NOW THAT the stage is set for a showdown between Dr Peter Phillips and Mrs Simpson Miller, I believe that regardless of who is successful in winning the party's presidency, there will always be tensions within the party.
Undoubtedly, these are long-lasting tensions, and in my opinion most of these problems are based on education, class, and culture. These tensions are similar to the those that exist in today's working environment, and without manage-ment's interception lead to serious consequences.
Third-party formation
Therefore, in my opinion, in order to eliminate such a situation within the People's National Party, I am recommending that the loser with such a strong support base, contemplate the formation of a third party.
At this crucial time in our country's history, the last thing that we need is a divided Opposition. Our country deserves a united front if we are to confront and solve the social problems that our country is faced with, and the opportunity to compete in this global economy. I implore both candidates to deviate from personal accomplishments, and weigh in on the future of our country.
I am, etc.,
