THE EDITOR, Sir:
I AM writing regarding the anti-doping tests on the Jamaican track team in Beijing. In my opinion so many tests are absolutely ludicrous and without merit. I do believe that so many tests being done will have an adverse effect on the mental state of the athletes and is a form of harassment. Powell and Bolt are the fastest men in the world, and I think they and the entire track team cannot help but feel that they are being harassed to a certain extent.
Keep focus
A test is given to the winners at the end of each race. Therefore, I see no need to be constantly checking them. To the Jamaican track team I say: Make good use of the talent that God has given you. Do not let anything that precedes your race interfere with your goals. Only you can let yourself down. No one else has that power over you. Good luck to each and every one and Godspeed.
