Pulse's Caribbean Model search
published: Monday | September 1, 2008

Search finals on Sunday. Three models will be chosen in Pulse's Caribbean Model finals at the Hilton Kingston hotel in St Andrew this Sunday.

The categories: Jamaica Fashion Model, Petite Jamaica Fashion Model and Male Face of Jamaica competition. The entertainment package for the evening will include dancehall dance maestro Elephant Man and DJ D'Angel.

Here are some of this year's contestants:

Kaniggia Buckle

18 years old

5' 9"

A true social butterfly, Kaniggia cites her bubbly personality and her natural knack for connecting with people as the most positive thing about her.

Hoping to take top honours in this season's CMS, Kaniggia believes that she has benefited from the grooming sessions held for the contestants.

"I have really enjoyed the CMS experience and I am happy that I decided to go out for it. I'm learning how to pose, how to walk and the essentials of becoming a great model. Being a part of this search has definitely been the best thing that has ever happened to me," she said.

Michaela Ramlal (Petite)

18 years old

5' 6"

Eighteen-year-old Michaela is a beauty with a purpose.

"I admire how international model Alek Wek has directed her earnings to assisting the poor in her native country. If I were to make it big in the industry, I would follow her lead and do something similar for the poor in Jamaica," she said.

Michaela is set to pursue pre-university studies at the University of the West Indies this September. Hailing from Galina, St Mary, she spends her leisure time reading and is currently fixed on Ernest Hemingway's 'The Sun Also Rises'.

Crystal Patterson

16 years old

5' 9"

Winning the 2008 CMS competition would change her life completely, says Crystal, and she's ready to put her all in it.

"Modelling is hard work and a few years from now, I hope to be gracing the covers of major magazines, including Elle and Cosmopolitan," said the quiet beauty.

Rashel-Lee Smith

17 years old

5' 7"

Rashel-Lee hopes to break big into the fashion industry as a model and designer.

She is thrilled to be a part of the Caribbean Model Search and is intent on attending fashion school in a few years. Local fashion icon Biggy and international star Michael Kors are her favourite designers.

Rashel-Lee spends her leisure time sketching designs and keeping tuned to the latest fashion trends on Fashion TV.

Renai Hanson

17 years old

5' 9"

Renai is a teen of many skills. The aspiring model sings, dances and plays the drums.

Her love for 'the skins' started at her community church - Radical Remnant - where she would play while her mother preached. Currently pursuing general studies at the AIE Institute, she hopes to juggle a fashion career while studying and sharpening her musical talent.
