Recap: A doctor prescribed yeast infection medication for Gabriellewithout examining her. As it turned out, she actually had vaginitis. If she had taken the prescribed medication, she could have suffered a miscarriage. Also, when she found out she was pregnant, she was immediately placed on Kaletra (medication that persons living with HIV use to protect their unborn baby from the virus, among other things).
Gabrielle's life has not been the same since she found out she was HIV-positive. And getting pregnant with her second child five months ago, it only complicated her situation even more.
She has been through a series of what you can call, 'bad karma'. And the nurse at the health centre is not making her life any easier. In fact, Gabrielle says this nurse makes her life a living hell.
"Every time I visit the health centre, she gets on my case," said Gabrielle.
She notes that the nurse pesters her about things such as what size house she lives in and whether it's made of board or concrete.
Judging me
"I told her I live in a one-bedroom house. She then asks me where am I going to put this baby, seeing that I am already living with one child and my boyfriend in the one room."
Gabrielle said the nurse also asked her if she does not want her baby to grow up wearing pretty clothes, too, seeing that she is currently not working and lives in a small place.
"When she speaks to me, I feel like she is standing on a stool looking down at me and judging me."
Refused to abort
"I know I did not plan for this baby but I refused to abort it because I am not a murderer. So I don't think she should talk down to me like that."
She told Flair that the nurse often becomes upset with her when she visits the health centre. The nurse told her that she needs to be more careful next time and not make the same mistake again.
"I fear going to the the health centre and seeing that nurse, because every time I go, she harasses me."
