That little blue dress: Michelle Obama's wardrobe
published: Monday | September 1, 2008

Michelle Obama's simple dress in a muted olive brocade and soft retro neckline.

At least one writer in the United States has voiced his criticism of first lady contender Michelle Obama's choice of dress for her speech in testimony of her husband Barack Obama at last week's democratic convention in Denver. The writer said she should have chosen basic black and that the teal blue dress clashed with her skin tone.

It looked great to me from my television set and for that reason, I give her the 'thumbs up'. All her other outfits showed that she is in touch with the trends and the times, while maintaining her own sense of style and appropriateness for the role in which she has been thrust.

Creative

I like her choice of vibrant colours and the children are usually cute.

The teal blue, form-fitting dress is from the creative imagination of Maria Pinto, Mrs Obama's favourite designer from Chicago's West Side. Since last Monday, the dress has sold out.

We selected some of the pieces she wore and ask that you be the judge.

The teal blue colour with a turquoise and silver star pin, appropriate hemline and three-quarter sleeves put her in sync with the shades in her girls' dresses. - AP
