Act in interest of the people
published: Monday | September 1, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

It's pretty sad to see how Prime Minister Bruce Golding has just brushed off Patrick Manning's idea of a political union.

Trinidad is an oil-rich country and with the price of oil these days it would be in our best interest in being united as one. The people living in this union would be able to travel freely through these united countries and take whatever opportunities are available. We could get rid of Air Jamaica that is losing millions and have one strong airline to serve the Caribbean.

United force

Europe, Asia and South America are working on ways to unite. This leaves only Africa and the Caribbean that have no interest to be a united force in this new world order.Maybe Marcus Garvey was right when he said "some people won't know themselves until their backs are against the wall."

I am, etc;
