LONDON (AP):

Liverpool striker Fernando Torres injured his hamstring yesterday and could miss Spain's World Cup qualifiers against Bosnia and Armenia.

Torres pulled up while chasing a pass in the first half of Liverpool's 0-0 draw at Aston Villa and will undergo a scan today.

"We will have to see what the scan shows tomorrow," Liverpool manager Rafa Benitez said. "We will have to see the extent of the injury. If it is like (Steven) Gerrard's, it could be 10 to 15 days and he may only miss one game. We will just keep our fingers crossed that it is nothing too serious."

European champion Spain play Bosnia on September 6 in Murcia, and Armenia on September 10 in Albacete.
