Tony Greene's Midnight blues
published: Tuesday | September 2, 2008

MIDNIGHT BLUE, the latest album from saxophonist Tony Greene, has been released by VP Records. It is the musician's sixth solo effort.

Greene, in an interview with The Weekly Gleaner (United Kingdom) last year, said the album was his most diverse to date. He experiments with hip hop on the song Move In which features the rapper Warfare.

For the most part, he sticks to his jazz and reggae roots as can be heard on Smooth Sailing which hears some solid work from guitarist Ernie Ranglin.

The Alpha Boys School past student pays tribute to Bob Marley with his cover of Concrete Jungle, and also does justice to the Rod Stewart original, For the First Time.

Greene, a former member of the Sonny Bradshaw and Lloyd Parkes and We The People bands, has been a solo act for almost 10 years. His previous studio albums are Evolution and Square From Cuba.
