The Search is almost over
published: Friday | September 5, 2008

Ahead of Pulse's Caribbean Model Search finals to be held this Sunday at the Hilton Kingston hotel, The Gleaner presents snapshots of some of the finalists who will compete in the 'search for the Caribbean's next supermodel'.

Taneisha Sinclair

16 years old

5' 7"

Taneisha believes a lot in exercise, keeping the body and mind healthy. An active swimmer, karate student and dancer, Taneisha has her body in peak condition for the CMS finals. She hopes to attend sixth form at Campion College.

Rochelle McKinley

14 years old

5' 7"

"I've always wanted to be a model. I've read how successful the Pulse models are, so I knew this was the right step for me," says 14-year-old Jose Marti student Rochelle.

The 10th-grade student, Rochelle says she relates most to Cosmopolitan model Nell Robinson because of her versatility and CMS 2007 Reality Star Rochelle Notice because of her persistence in achieving against odds.

Shermonique Ivey

13 years old

5' 7"

Her bubbly 'you have no choice but to notice me' personality has shone brightly ever since she stepped into the Pulse headquarters. She, who enjoys watching TV, swimming and surfing the Internet, entered the 2008 CMS competition to improve her posture and carriage.

Shanelle Forbes

16 years old

5' 6"

Shanelle Forbes has her heart set on breaking into the modelling industry and asserts that her powerful personality and agreeableness will ensure she does. "I think to be a successful model you have to be willing to work with all kinds of people and go to unfamiliar places. Top models like Gaye McDonald are always travelling, but she always seems so pleasant and willing to work. I want people to say that about me so I can get a lot of good jobs," she says.

Stephanie McKinley

18 years old

5' 4 "

While her younger sister Rochelle is gunning for top honours in the Fashion Model Competition, Stephanie hopes to take home the Petite title. "There is no competition between my sister and I because we are in separate categories. We encourage each other and practise walking and posing at home," says the older McKinley. Bog Walk, St Catherine is home to the McKinleys and Stephanie likes hanging out at home watching TV and socialising with friends.

Jonnalee Davis

20 years old

5'8"

"I love music and I'm always tuned to either ZIP 103 or listening to the latest songs on my mp3 player," says Jonnalee. The talkative hopeful, who hails from Kingston, says she is most excited about the billed acts to perform at the CMS live show. "I know the night is going to be about crowning the next face of the Caribbean but it also has great entertainment. Elephant Man is larger than Beijing right now, so I know he will be great at our show."
