Hanna delays GeoEye-1
published: Friday | September 5, 2008

GeoEye Inc announced on Tuesday a slip in the launch of its GeoEye-1 satellite from Vanden-berg Air Force Base (VAFB), California.

While the launch vehicle and satellite were on the pad and ready for a launch later in the week, United Launch Alliance (ULA) advised the company that Hurricane Hanna's projected path off the east coast of Florida had impacted the availability of certified Delta II launch specialists available to travel to VAFB to support the GeoEye-1 launch.

ULA subsequently began plan-ning the launch for no earlier than September 7 and was taking all steps necessary to support that date.

GeoEye said it would announce a new date as soon as it was confirmed by its launch provider.
