RESIDENTS OF the usually quiet farming town of Font Hill, St Thomas, are still stunned by the murder of two women who were gunned down in the district of Davis Mountain, Thursday night.Dead are Kelita Lee, 76, and Ann Marie McIndo, 37. Both are housewives of Davis Mountain.
A report from the Constabulary Communication Network said the first of the two women was killed at 7:30 p.m. The police said McIndo was at home when two men entered and opened fire, killing her on the spot.
Her killers then went to nearby premises where Lee resided and she, too, was shot and killed. The police were summoned, the crime scenes processed, and the bodies removed to the morgue for post-mortem.
reprisal
Reports reaching The Gleaner are that the death of the women might have been a reprisal for the killing of Samuel Bignal, who was ambushed and killed in the district on Tuesday, August 26.
The police suspect that Bignal's death might be linked to a love-triangle affair. On the night he died, he had travelled about 25 miles from Yallahs to Font Hill to see a female friend.
Detectives in the parish have since detained a suspect in connection with Bignal's murder. The lawmen theorised that persons close to Bignal carried out the attack to avenge his death.
