A BRAZILIAN delegation comprising parliamentarians made a two-day visit to Jamaica this week to develop what is called 'parliamentary diplomacy''The president of the senate committee of Brazil, Heraclito Fortes, along with his team, held discussions with Prime Minister Bruce Golding and Deputy Prime Minister Dr Kenneth Baugh.
The group also held meetings between September 4-5 with Speaker of the House of Representatives, Delroy Chuck, and President of the Senate, Dr Oswald Harding.
During the talks with the prime minister, areas for bilateral cooperation were identified, such as tourism and technical support.
Both parties also expressed mutual interest in strengthening trade relations and cooperation in sports, especially football.
Parliamentarians from both countries agreed to establish a system of exchange of experience between the parliaments of Jamaica and Brazil.
