More attack advertisements surface
published: Monday | September 8, 2008

Two more attack advertisements aimed at Portia Simpson Miller and her team have hit the Internet as the battle for the top job in the People's National Party (PNP) heats up.

The ads are again from the yet to be identified Comrades For Change, which was responsible for a similar Internet advertisement less than one month ago.

This time, Simpson Miller is the main target as the authors question her ability to lead the party.

Members of Team PNP were also the butt of critical, if not libellous, comments in the two advertisements.

The Arise and Renew campaign team behind Dr Peter Phillips has already denied that it is behind the attack ads.

The campaign team says it is in no way connected to and is unaware of Comrades For Change.

Phillips has repeatedly distanced himself from any mud-slinging while arguing that he wants to campaign on policies and principles, not personalities.

Simpson Miller, who has repeatedly said she is not campaigning, has also publicly distanced herself from the mud-slinging.

Approximately 4,600 PNP delegates are to vote on September 20 to elect the party's president and four vice-presidents.
