THE EDITOR, Sir:
Not in our wildest dreams could we believe that little Jamaica would have achieved as much as it did at the recent Olympic Games.
What can we say? To God be the glory, great things He has done! Words cannot express how proud we are of this moment.
As I look at the pictures, I find it difficult to express the emotions so vividly expressed by everyone, from the babes and tiny tots to the old grey heads, bending over their sticks, every face was so lit up by the 'Bolt' of lightning that had struck us.
Make Jamaica proud
We hope all the young people will take a leaf out of the book of these athletes and do something to make Jamaica proud.
I have goose pimples whenever I hear the national anthem being played and see our young 'warriors' standing at attention, receiving their medals.
I regard Bolt's actions as youthful exuberance, no harm meant. So let's leave it at that, and forget about the negative comments.
Praise and glory
We commend all of them especially, Asafa who redeemed himself in the end.
All praise and glory to those who had anything to do with the tremendous success of these young people - their parents, their teachers, their coaches, corporate Jamaica who sponsored them - everybody! Words can't express our gratitude to you.
In the same breath we have to congratulate the Chinese for putting on such a spectacular show in Beijing. It will long be remembered as one of, if not the best in history.
Eternal Father, continue to bless our land and let it grow from strength to strength.
I am, etc.,
