Corporate extortion
published: Tuesday | September 9, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

I have rewired my home. I have changed out every bulb with energy-saving bulbs. I have cut back on all use of energy. Only my wife and I and a single daughter live in this modest home on University Crescent in Mona. Both my wife and I come home late from work and go to bed early.

I am still at a loss as to how the JPS brought itself to send me a rapacious bill which has increased for the 'nth' time and is now at $45,000 for the month of August, up from $35,000 in July.

This is a blatantly outrageous bill which has been gradually increasing for the last five years. I will pay this because you have a knife at my throat. If there is ever an example of corporate extortion this is it.

I am, etc.,

Dr Winston Davidson

Kingston
