Another moral contradiction
published: Tuesday | September 9, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

With reference to the article 'Family values on parade in US politics' published yesterday, the 'right to life' crowd is also the most vocal in its support for the death penalty - despite overwhelming evidence that it is frequently wrong and often applied against the poorest and most defenceless in society.

I'm no fan of abortion, and fully support someone's right to mount a spirited attack against it on moral grounds, but don't turn around and literally condemn to death the products of unwanted pregnancies, broken homes and socially deprived conditions.

I am, etc.,

JOHN FOWLER
