THE EDITOR, Sir:Please give me a small space in your column to remind the National Works Agency (NWA) about the bad condition of the roads leading from Morant Bay to all the districts within the eastern parts of the parish.
The condition has existed for a very long time and could not be worse. There is no proper road surface, especially entering Leith Hall, all the way to Dalvey. I am wondering if anyone from the NWA has ever driven on these roads.
Motorists using these roads have to be digging deep into their pockets to carry out repairs to their vehicles and replace tyres. This is eating out the meagre returns called 'profit' from the few people who can afford to go about their business.
Potholes everywhere
Now, everywhere you look, there are potholes that are unavoidable because they extend across the entire width of the road. Over time, workmen tried to fill some of them with a material looking like 'mali' (marl) but the stuff disappears as the rain comes.
Some of the roads really need to be reconstructed because they have lost the surface that is required to support the traffic. I believe those engineers need some refresher courses that will enable them to perform in a meaningful way.
This letter may be a bit abrasive, but when I see the wasteful and careless ways taxpayers' money is spent, it bleeds my heart.
I am, etc.,
