Keep MVP here
published: Monday | September 15, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

It was with great disappointment that I read of reports that Coach Stephen Francis may take his MVP Track Club overseas. I hope that the Government of Jamaica would step in and offer some kind of incentive to this Jamaican son to prevent this valuable loss to our sport programme.

Expertise

One of the suggestions I would propose is that the overseas athletes who would like to be coached by Francis come to Jamaica instead, even if on a seasonal basis, and an official camp be built to house individuals who come to benefit from his expertise.

There should be a track school where Jamaican and overseas athletes can train side by side. This is something that we can also use to boost our economy and provide more jobs for Jamaicans. Let us work together to not lose someone so vital to our youths.

I am, etc.,
