Charity queen Courtney Foster says she has dedicated her passion for helping the needy to God.
Last Sunday, the 21-year-old donated a cheque for $220,000 to the annual Dr Norman Sinclair Memorial Scholarship to Chanique Cousins, a medical student at the University of the West Indies. The event — Kidz For Charity Fashion Show — was held at the Waterfalls nightclub, St Andrew.
Thank yous
"I just want to take this opportunity to thank everybody, first of all God ... He has been with me ever since I started raising funds for charity at age four," Foster said.
Cousins, an Immaculate Conception High School graduate and Franklyn Town resident, was grateful for the gesture. "I really appreciate this scholarship. It will definitely help lessen the burden on my mother to find the school fee," she said.
"Well, I'm very happy ... this will definitely motivate me to do a lot better in school, cause I grew up with my mother and grandfather, and it wasn't easy to find the fee," said added.
Before the presentation, patrons were entertained with a fashion show.
Foster has been raising funds for charity since 1991 and was awarded The Gleaner Honour Award for Excellence in 2001.
