Techno-titan digital media player
published: Saturday | September 20, 2008

Payton Wilmot, Gleaner Writer

Technology has certainly come a long away and so too has the way people listen to music on various portable devices. It began with the 'Walkman' in 1979 and the CD player, which came in 1982 and as the saying goes the rest is history. Pretty soon there was a wide range of portable music devices: the Mp3s as well as the Mp4s and every version of the IPod, produced by numerous technological giants, for example Sony and, in this case, Titan.

What's hot:

✓ Extremely light

✓ Camera function DC/DV

✓ Built-in speaker

What's not:

✗ It's a very delicate device.

Design

The design for this device is quite unique. This is so because it does not resemble the ordinary Mp4s as it has a more three-dimensional feel to it. Some Mp4s possess a more flat or rounded body. The device is also quite user friendly easy to manoeuvre and is also not as cumbersome as its predecessors, such as the Walkman or the CD player.

The titan media player has a 2.4-inch display screen, as well as a camera function, which has 1.3 mega pixels. The power button is located to the front of the device as well as the navigation buttons and a volume button just under the device.

Specifications

Here are a few specifications from the Titan Digital Media Player:

Operating systems: Windows98SE/ ME/2000/XP

Memory: expandable (Micro SD) Slot

Colour: Silver and Black

Power supply: More than 8 hours

Music file format: MP1/MP2/MP3/WMA/WMV/ASF/WAV

FM Radio with 20 radio stations

Photo formats: JPG, BMP (24 bit)

Performance

In terms of performance, the device takes 'good photos' since the camera is 1.3 mega pixels. Also, one can listen to music via the built in speakers and the sound producing clear and distinct sounds.

Bottom line

It is a definite must-have, especially given the fact that it possesses a camera. For music lovers who enjoy taking pictures on the go, you should definitely have this device at your disposal. The device is also quite stylish and very attractive. I give it a 3.9 out of 5.
