Pork hock

You can pick up supplies of this meat in most meat shops and supermarkets across the island this week.

In rural meat shops, the asking price for a pound ($454.55g) will be $100. That same price will be asked in downtown Kingston's meat outlets. Supermarkets in Kingston and rural areas will ask $150 for a pound of pork hock this week.

Scallion


This favourite seasoning is on fair offer this week. Markets in island capitals such as May Pen and Spanish Town, will ask $100 for a pound (454.55g) of scallion. This price will be quoted in most rural markets. Montego Bay's Charles Gordon market will this week ask $150 for a pound of scallion.

Cabbage

The price of cabbage has shifted slightly this week in a number of markets across the island. The asking price at markets in May Pen, will range from $40-$50 (against the $20 and $30 quoted last week). The same price will be quoted in most rural markets. Montego Bay's Charles Gordon market will ask $50 for a pound of cabbage this week. The asking price in downtown Kingston ranges from $50-$60 per pound this week.

Carrots

The asking price in most retail markets is $40 per pound. This applies to Kingston as well as a number of rural markets. Montego Bay's Charles Gordon market will ask $50/$60 for a pound of carrot this week.

Yellow yam

Yellow yam is currently on good offer at this time. Montego Bay's Charles Garden market will ask $50 for a pound (454.55g) of yellow yam as will a number of retail markets. Markets in May Pen and Spanish Town will ask $60/$70 for a pound of yellow yam this week. The same price will be quoted in downtown Kingston.

Dasheen

If dasheen happens to be your favourite staple, you should be able to get it in retail markets this week. Montego Bay's Charles Gordon market will ask $50 for a pound (454.55g) of dasheen this week, as will most rural markets. In downtown Kingston, dasheen will be offered at prices ranging from $50-$60 per pound.

Breadfruit


This is also on fair offer this week. The price in most rural markets will range from $50 to $80 for a single breadfruit. These same prices will apply at Montego Bay's Charles Gordon market.

The prices in downtown Kingston will range from $40 to $70 each this week.
