No change of course
published: Thursday | September 25, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

It is very obvious that Dr Peter Phillips' Arise and Renewal team seemingly does have the best interest of the People's National Party (PNP) at heart.

Dr Peter Phillps and his supporters need to understand that when they resign from party posts they are turning their backs against the Jamaican people who are depending on them to chart the course for a better Jamaica.

I can state as a Comrade who lives overseas, I did not support Portia Simpson Miller for the presidency of the party and I will not stop campaigning for the PNP on a daily basis because my candidate Dr Peter Phillips did not win the presidential race. At the end of the day, I am a Comrade and my duty is to remain and rebuild the PNP.

Dr Peter Phillips, Maxine Henry-Wilson, Dr Rhodd and the other Comrades who supported Dr Phillips have all contributed significantly to the development of the PNP and moreso Jamaica; and I would say to these Comrades, put differences and personalities aside and ensure that the PNP does not change course.

I am, etc.,

WAYNE SIMMONDS
