TIVOLI WERE left to rue a fifth-minute penalty miss by striker Roland Dean and had to settle for a 0-0 draw against Reno in their Digicel Premier League game at STETHS yesterday.Tivoli were awarded the penalty after Dean was cut down by Omar Johnson during an early attacking onslaught.
Dean's resulting grounder from the spot veered inches from the left upright to provide a huge relief for the Reno team which had lost 2-1 in its opening game against Sporting Central.
Miskicking
The Reno team also had Dean to thank for another lucky break, after the Tivoli striker miskicked a ball that fell to his feet after Reno keeper Dennis Taylor failed to collect a high, right-side cross.
Reno also had their moment to shine, as the Tivoli goalkeeper, Leon Gordon, had to produce the best save of the game, diving full stretch and low to his right, to keep out a 20-yard free kick from Nicholy Findlayson midway through the first half.
Frustrated by calls
Tivoli's coach Lenworth Hyde was more frustrated with calls by referee Kevin Morrison than his team's play, while Wendel Downswell felt his team gave a disciplined performance but lacked expertise in the goal-scoring area.
