We have noted the relaunch of the Legal Officers Staff Association (LOSA), a body that was originally established to look after the welfare of lawyers employed to the government. In the past, apparently, LOSA concerned itself primarily with wages and salaries and similar terms of employment, which remain its primary issue.
However, we would hope, though, that the association does not interpret its mandate so narrowly that welfare merely equals pay. Part of its remit must be to ensure that the law and the legal system works to its fullness and the benefit of the whole society.
