Fair Prospect, Port Antonio hunt victory
published: Tuesday | September 30, 2008

Versel Thompson, Gleaner writer

JOINT leaders Fair Prospect High and Port Antonio High, with eight points apiece from four games, will have contrasting assignments today as action heats up with return matches in Group L (a) of the ISSA/Pepsi/Digicel daCosta Cup football competition.

Fair Prospect will tackle Happy Grove, which have five points, while Port Antonio High take on Buff Bay, who are without a point. Both matches begin at 3:30p.m.

Fair Prospect should be comfortable playing at their home ground against Happy Grove, whom they beat 1-0 in their opening encounter at Hector's River on Tuesday, September 16.

The Fair Prospect team, which survived a scare against cellar team Buff Bay after they had surrendered a 3-0 lead before winning 3-2 on Saturday, had draws against Titchfield (1-1) on Thursday, September 18 and Port Antonio (2-2) last Wednesday.

Their coach, Robert Hamilton, said: "Our intention is to win our remaining matches. We are not looking for anything less as we are not going to await the result of the final group match to decide our fate.

"They (Happy Grove) should by now be aware that they will be walking in to the Lion's Den against us come tomorrow (today)," Hamilton warned.

Fair Prospect will be bolstered by midfielders Denton Burke and Gavin Currie, who were a part of last year's aggregation.

Happy Grove will be without main striker Seyco Gordon, who damaged his foot against Titchfield, at the weekend which also have five points.

Meanwhile, Port Antonio, with the likes of goalkeeper Orian Hall and defenders Dwayne Waite, Kadeem Biggastaff and Clifton Gowie; and strikers Howard Monteque, Davian Hinds and Courtney Wilson, should not be taking Buff Bay lightly after their showing against Fair Prospect at the weekend.
