Raiders, JDF draw
published: Tuesday | September 30, 2008

Brian Brodber registered a brace for Raiders United, but Andrew Fletcher and Jerome Davis scored for the Jamaica Defence Force (JDF) to ensure a 2-2 draw in the second round of the Jamaica Hockey Federation National Hockey League, at the Mona Astro turf at the weekend.

"We missed a lot of chances but were able to rebound in the latter part of the game," said Radcliffe Barrett, coach of the JDF, who top the tables on 20 points, one ahead of Sharpes Rebels on 19.

In another match on Saturday, Sharpes Rebels defeated the Combined Colleges team 3-2 with goals from Giovanni Gordon (2) and Duvaughn Henlon (1).

The goal scorers

Kwame Emmanuel and Omar Robinson were the goal scorers for the Combined Colleges team.

Michelle Thompson, coach of Sharpes Rebels, stated that training had been difficult for her club team as seven of her key players were in training with the national Under-21 squad in preparation for the Pan American Junior Hockey Championships.

"We came out a bit flat in the first half and it took some motivation and a little luck to rebound after a 2-0 lead to win the match," Thompson said.
