SUPERCLUBS IS the latest sponsor to reaffirm its commitment to the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF) in a number of days, as it announced support in the region of $40 million over the next two years.

The contract will see the hotel chain become the official accommodation provider for the national team in western Jamaica.

Second largest amount

The total, although mostly in kind and not cash, represents the second largest amount for the JFF, behind only official gear sponsors, Kappa.

"We would like to thank our sponsors as they came on board recognising the importance of football to nation building," said JFF president Captain Horace Burrell at yesterday's press conference at the JFF's head office in New Kingston.

"Especially at a time when the national team may not be doing as well as we all would have hoped," Burrell added. "One of the prohibitive factors in hosting high-profile international games is the cost, especially in terms of accommodation, and this will no doubt go a long away in aiding in that respect."

In addition to the national team, the sponsorship package will also aid the federation in hosting the final round of the Digicel Caribbean Cup. The tournament will see eight of the region's top teams, including Jamaica, in action at the Trelawny multi-purpose stadium. The teams are expected to be hosted at a greatly discounted rate through-out the tournament.

Partnership

While encouraging the team to put its best boot forward tomorrow, Zein Nakash, vice-president and marketing manager of SuperClubs, expressed satisfaction with the partnership.

"We are proud to be associated with the Reggae Boyz and expect the partnership to be a great and mutually beneficial one," she said.
