We attempted this letter over six months ago based on the numerous complaints received, but finally a voice cried aloud that is heard even at Jamaica House.
Considering it the inevitable fulfilment of Bible prophecy, sabbatarians, Seventh-day Adventists and others oftentimes, but silently, reflect on the widespread victimisation they face at the workplace.
Discrimination
Cited as cultic for their strict adherence to weekly Sabbath worship, many have reported being bypassed for promotions while others say they have been flatly rejected at job interviews when they revealed that they are sabbathkeepers.
And, there are glaring cases where loyal, dedicated, hard-working employees are side-stepped because they are unable to work on the Sabbath.
Saturday worshippers should be relieved that their case is being addressed at the highest level when Minister of Labour and Social Security, Pearnel Charles, speaking on behalf of the prime minister, raised the issue of discrimination against sabbathkeepers.
Flexi-work
Flexi-work week, where employees choose their days off, could afford employers the best of both worlds and increase productive output.
Narrow-mindedness will see a continuation of a blatant discrimination against sabbathkeepers
