LETTER OF THE DAY - Make science, high-tech 'our useful servant'
The Editor, Sir: To understand the current developments in technology, one has to understand the progress of science. The ultimate goal of science has always been to understand nature firstly and then to make it our useful servant.

Air Jamaica is a 'white elephant'

The Editor, Sir: The time is now when government should start making wise decisions that are in the best interest of Jamaica. To do so politicians will have to put personal sentiment aside, and do the right thing even if it is unpopular with the public.

Police should ignore relevance of status

The Editor, Sir: It has long been accepted - despite statements to the contrary by officialdom - that there are two Jamaicans as far as interaction with agents of the state is concerned. The police practise this form of social discrimination without batting an eye and now probably see their actions as the norm.

Labouring in vain?

The Editor, Sir: This is in response to Devon Dick's column on Thursday, 'Serious situations, simplistic Shields'. If Jamaica has been losing its grip on crime from three years ago, it means that crime has been shooting up since the PNP's time.

Eastern parishes feel left out

The Editor, Sir: Residing in the eastern end of the island is never much cause for celebration - especially Olympic celebrations. The people of the eastern parishes of the island are highly saddened by the way they were completely disregarded in being a part of the Olympians home coming celebration.
