Labouring in vain?
published: Saturday | October 11, 2008

The Editor, Sir:

This is in response to Devon Dick's column on Thursday, 'Serious situations, simplistic Shields'.

If Jamaica has been losing its grip on crime from three years ago, it means that crime has been shooting up since the PNP's time.

I attended a lecture recently by Prof. Herbert Gayle, a youngster who lectured to me at UWI. He said that Jamiaca can be crime free but those at the top do not want it to be! I agreed with him. My view is that all we have to do, is to turn our backs on human rights and get on with the job.

What a world!

As a researcher you should talk to him and he will tell you how he thinks we can make Jamaica crime free! Shields is trying his best. It would be nice if you prayed for Audley.

In fact our streets should be crawling with British and American soldiers. It is pride and the tourist dollar why we do not want this. For the same reason, the Russian submarine went down with precious lives; they would not accept help from America.

What a world! So the worldwide economy is falling like dominoes. Ha! God must be having a good joke watching us, how we will jam up so jelly tight that we will finally destroy ourselves in the process. Talk about Independence when we can't manage! Indeed! Unless the Lord builds the house, those who labour, labour in vain

I am, etc.,
