GOOD CITIZEN (Trevor Simpson up) looks a safe bet in today's feature, the Owen Silvera Memorial Cup.

OPEN ALLOWANCE horses take the spotlight at Caymanas Park today in the Owen Silvera Memorial Cup over 1600 metres to be contested by 10 starters.
Also on the well-supported 10-race programme is the 3-y-o and up restricted allowance race over 1200 metres for the Flossie McNeil Memorial Cup (non-winners of two) to be contested by eight fillies and mares.
GOOD CITIZEN, who turned in a superlative performance to win the $1 million CTL Imported Stakes under top weight of 60.5kg on September 20, is tipped to follow up in the Owen Silvera Memorial.
Good field
Judging from the manner in which she spreadeagled a good field in the CTL Imported Stakes over 1400 metres, this talented American 3-y-o filly is definitely the one they again have to beat.
Prominent from early, GOOD CITIZEN disposed of long-time leader PURE SILK a furlong out, winning by 4 1/2 lengths from DR. SOCRATES, who renews the rivalry on worse terms today.
On that occasion, GOOD CITIZEN made light work of her heavy impost and carries only 56kg today. Indeed, several of her opponents are either sitting close to her or level with her in the weights, a situation that should play in her favour, especially with five-time champion Trevor Simpson again in the saddle.
Blessed with good speed, GOOD CITIZEN will be happy with the additional furlong, having finished 2 1/2 lengths second to RUM TALK over same on July 12 in what was a fast-run race.
Trainer Delroy Waugh has the daughter of Proud Citizen in fine fettle and despite the good claims of the well-prepared 3-y-o filly IT IS I, who is out for the first time since winning the Lotto Classic over 2000 metres on May 24, and also the useful but highly-strung campaigner IVAN THE TERRIBLE, GOOD CITIZEN ought to be followed in a race of this nature.
The Flossie McNeil Memorial Cup should see THE REAL FURY, GIRLOFMYDREAMS and PASS LINE in serious contention at the end.
GIRLOFMYDREAMS went under in a driving finish to LITTLERICHBOY over 1400 metres as recent as Wednesday and although coming back rather quickly, could well go one better, as she is still at home over the shorter distance.
Best credentials
PASS LINE from the Richie Todd stables was not beaten far by THE GREYT DOCTOR in the recent Dr Ralston Feanny Memorial Cup over 1100 metres and with less to do in present company, should make it close. However, THE REAL FURY, who finished a close fourth to MAKYEN JOY over the distance some weeks ago, has the best credentials and having worked well, is given the edge with in-form Dane Nelson aboard.
I also like recent winner FLORENCE to repeat at the expense of WINNING MESSAGE in the second race, DESIGNED FOR LUCK to do likewise in the third, SAMBA DANCER in the fifth, PAGEE PRINCESS in the seventh and ROMEZ in the ninth.
